In this report, the survey of the self-similarity phenomenon observed in the Internet traffic does demonstrate that the exist of self-similarity. Its implications on network performance brings up the question that we should rethink the traditional approach in network engineering in order to do a efficient service provisioning with QoS guarantees in the Internet.
