Self Similarity upon Network Performance

In the problem of traffic engineering, one practical effect of self-similarity is that the buffers needed at switches and multiplexers must be bigger than those predicted by traditional queueing analysis and simulations. These larger buffers create greater delays in individual streams than were originally anticipated [11] .
