Professor Pengcheng SHI - PhD (Yale), 1996.

Professor Pengcheng Shi received his B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1989, and his M.S., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Yale University in 1992, 1993, and 1996, respectively. Before joining HKUST in 1999, Professor Shi was with Yale University School of Medicine as a NRSA Fellow and with New Jersey Institute of Technology as an Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer and Information Sciences.


Professor Shi was a recipient of the US National Research Service Award for his pioneering work on applying biomechanics based strategy to medical image understanding. He also won a best paper award in IEEE Northeast Bioengineering Conference, and a University Fellowship from Yale University.


Visual information processing and its applications in biomedicine: medical imaging, image-guided diagnosis and interventions, computer vision and pattern recognition, virtual and augmented reality, physiological system modeling.


 

 

Dr. Huafeng LIU - PhD (Zhejiang), 2001

Dr. Liu received his B.S. in Optical Engineering, M.S. in Measurement Techniques and Instruments, and Ph.D. in Positron Emission Tomography, all from the Department of Optical Engineering, Zhejiang University. He has been with the MICG as a postdoctoral fellow since 2001, working on statistical filtering and inverse mechanics strategies for cardiac image analysis.


Biological imaging instrumentation, medical image analysis.



 

Dr. Xin YUAN - PhD (Zhejiang), 2002

Dr. Yuan received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. in Instrumentation and Measurement Technique, and Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1995, 1998 and 2002 respectively, all from Zhejiang University. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the MICG, working on computer-aided diagnosis of mammographic images, especially the detection of micro-calcification.


Computer vision, image processing, image and video retrieval.


 

 

Mr. Gary H. P. HO - BEng (HKUST), 2002

Mr. Ho received his B.Eng. in Computer Engineering from HKUST, where he was awarded the Academic Achievement Medal as one of the top graduates in class 2002. He is currently studying for his Master of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, concentrating on image segmentation.


Medical image Analysis on mammography, image segmentation.


 

Mr. Edward W. B. LO - BEng (HKUST), 2000, MIEE

Mr. Lo received his B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering from HKUST in 2000. He has been pursuing his Master of Philosophy degree in the MICG on robust filtering strategies. He is a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, and a student member of IEEE.


H-infinity filtering, parameters estimation on state-space systems, motion analysis on medical images.

 

 

Miss Alexandra L. N. WONG - BEng (HKUST), 2000

Miss Wong received her B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering from HKUST in 2000. She is currently a Master of Philosophy student in the MICG, working on spatiotemporal evolution models for joint image segmentation and motion recovery.


Pattern recognition, hand geometry biometrics, joint analysis of segmentation and motion tracking from image sequences.


 

Mr. Ken C. L. WONG - BEng (HKUST), 2002

Mr. Wong received his B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering from HKUST in 2002. Since then, he has been a Master of Philosophy student with the MICG with interests in soft tissue modeling and image feature analysis.


Soft-tissue modeling, facial feature extraction and matching.
