Research Interests
Biophotonics; modern optical devices and systems; optical imaging processing;
laser spectroscopy; environmental monitoring.
Dr. Jianan Qu received BS and MS degrees in optical engineering from Huazhong
University of Science and Technology in 1983 and 1986, respectively. He received
PhD degree in optics from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics,
Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1990. After that he worked one year with
Department of Physics in University of California at Irvine and two and half
years with British Columbia Cancer Research Centre as a postdoctoral fellow.
Before joining with HKUST in 1997, he was a staff scientist with Ontario Laser
and Lightwave Research Centre (currently changed to Photonics Research Ontario).
Dr. Qu is the member of Optical Society of America and Society of Photo-Optical
Instrumentation Engineers.
